2014 Recap and 2015 Preview

Happy New Year!

2014 was a turning point for Coffee Party USA.  Here’s a brief recap of what we accomplished together.

  • Our reach via Facebook grew from averaging 700K views each week to our current average of 6-13 million.  All of this happened in the second half of the year.

  • We held our first ever, Coffee Party Movie Night with “This American Journey” and we interviewed the filmmakers.  This led to creating a calendar of monthly events for 2015.

  • The Coffee Party USA Newsletter was successfully re-started, keeping you informed and connected.

  • Coffee Party was represented at two national conferences this year, connecting with our larger activist and dialogue communities.  Coffee Party was also represented at an invitational transpartisan gathering.

  • Our corps of volunteers grew three-fold and many work groups are holding weekly coordination calls.

  • More social media outlets like Google+ and Pinterest were added. [more]

It's the time of year for resolutions.  Typically, people make a list of personal goals encompassing health, habits, and money.  Please allow us to suggest one more:  become a member of the Coffee Party USA.

If ever there was a time this country cries out for the informed cvil activism of its citizens, it is now.

Rarely in American history has our governance been in the hands of so few representing the narrowest of interests.  [more]

Meet our Newsroom bloggers & FB posters

by Egberto Willies, Coffee Party USA Director of Newsroom & Social Media

EgbertoWilliesOnCNN.JPG

The second half of 2014 was a banner year for the Coffee Party USA Newsroom. We brought on talented bloggers, and very informed Facebook posters. Our intent is to allow civil, free and open dialogue.

Our standard bearers and influx of new talent have unleashed the long awaited possibility of our newsroom. We went from 700K views each week to our current average of 6-13 million on any given week. That growth is monumental and reflects the dedication and consistency of our new team, a team that has worked with a symbiosis not seen since Coffee Party USA’s inception.

As we grow we will responsibly move stories, many ignored, to the forefront. In effect we will become an important and responsible segment of the media. If you are a fact based Conservative, Liberal, Moderate, or any ideology in between blogger, please contact me at [email protected]. If there is a fit you will go through our volunteer department to possibly join the media team.

Now please meet our newsroom team. [more]

Join Coffee Party USA and many other #GetMoneyOut organizations for a rally on January 21 — the fifth anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court lump of coal known as Citizens United — to deliver democracy right to the Chamber’s doorstep.

Hundreds of activists will gather in Lafayette Park in Washington, DC to shed light on the Chamber of Commerce’s attacks on our democracy, our jobs, and our environment. [more]

Coffee Party relaunches our Book Club

by Billy Sears, Director of Community Outreach and Engagement.

Are you ready to incite civility and reason back into our political arena? Are you ready to assist in our country transcending its current partisan political stalemate? Are you ready to help dismantle the corporate control of our government and return it to “the people?"

Unstoppable.jpg

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then you will want to participate in the Coffee Party USA’s new series of monthly events, starting in January, that are designed to both foster and promote outreach and engagement in communities and homes all across the country.

The kick off event, a relaunch of The Coffee Party Book Club, will be Monday, January 26, 2015 at 8:30pm (EST). We will host a special Coffee Party radio program, to both commemorate Coffee Party USA's fifth anniversary, and also dissect Ralph Nader’s new book Unstoppable - The Emerging Left-Right Alliance to Dismantle the Corporate State. The goal will be to bring forth from Nader’s excellent book specific action steps we can all take to create the government we want!

But you can get involved now! And here’s how….

First, pick up a copy of Nader’s book! You can purchase a copy through Amazon and a small portion of the proceeds will assist our organization. You can purchase the book by clicking the link above (or click the picture of the book to the right). [more]

A Weary Greece Considers Its Options

The human toll of the economic crisis in Greece has been significant: Rates of hunger, suicide and unemployment have increased sharply, thanks to years of misguided austerity policies. So it is hardly shocking that polls are showing that voters are likely to give control of Parliament to the leftist political party Syriza in an election later this month. [more]
