I've often said Coffee Party saved my life.
In 2010, the vitriol of the day inspired me to ‘joust for justice’ on social media. Some of the rhetoric was so mean and so inaccurate I felt a need to respond. I see now I was hooked by a strategy to divide America.
I’d like to say I had an ‘ah-ha’ moment, but mine was a slow awakening. It started in October 2010. At the Rally to Restore Sanity in DC, I remember how good it felt to hold my values but express them in positive, proactive words. I remember sharing with my sister how the reactive, snarky conversations on social media were going to be the death of me, and the attitude at the rally felt so much more empowering let alone informative.
She pointed out the Coffee Party booth, saying “you should check out these folks. And so it began. A year later I was in DC again, this time a Coffee Party member and volunteer at our “Enough is Enough: Citizens Intervention rally.
In the seven years since I have never regretted embracing the lifestyle of a volunteer. I find I get more than I give by participating in something bigger than myself that embraces the values I hold most dear.
Join this all volunteer band of folks who share their commitment to Civility, Unity, and Integrity every day! LIke me, I think you’ll be glad you did. Volunteer before the year ends and you will be eligible to run for a position on our Board of Directors. I did. You could, too.
