Dear friends who say murder is illegal but that doesn’t stop people from murdering people: By that logic we shouldn’t have any laws at all. It’s a false dichotomy to suggest that if a law won’t have 100% effectiveness then we shouldn’t adopt it. We can work to reduce gun violence while also knowing we probably won’t be able to eliminate all violence always forever.
