Collectively, there are thousands of organizations and funders already working to improve our country. So why does our country appear to be a mess? The weakest part of our country is our willingness to live in a narrative/news stream that confirms our own bias and demonizes others. We could make our collective work exponentially more effective by fostering strong relationships among people of different viewpoints. Our current frayed social fabric is the result of “winner take all” politics, party loyalty […]
As I watched the service for Bush 41, I remembered the seeds of discord that were sowed 1980-92, which has led to the political environment we have today. I disagreed with most of the Bush 41 policies. I was appalled by the air attacks on Iraq, at the incompletion of the battle and other civilian casualties that resulted from his policies. There were highlights and lowlights. Our national power struggle became visceral. Our belief that our voice mattered to the […]

By Jeanne Bear, Coffee Party USA volunteer In our current body politic what could rationally be called conversation and reason are difficult. Many people meeting face-to-face can’t quite reach that level of exchange. So what can be done if all they exchange are volleys of cherry-picked fake news, rants all about their anger or fears, and claims that government is the problem? It is a tough challenge when shame, fear, and cynicism are where it starts. An anticipated conversation may […]
The Midterm 2018 Blue Wave proved that the pathology is waning. Unfortunately, the defeat of Stacey Abrams, Andrew Gillum, and Beto O’Rourke makes is clear it is not occurring fast enough.
A photo of this cap made the rounds in cyberspace not long after the 2016 presidential election. “Make America Kind Again” was the plea. The campaign to be “great again” evidently resonated with enough voters in enough states that the Electoral College was tipped against the popular vote. So now we have what we have here in America – I would say: neither greatness nor goodness. A Pandora’s Box of ugliness has been opened in our society. Of course people […]
By Chrystine Julian, Coffee Party USA volunteer When checking out the Coffee Party USA one of the first things you will encounter is their Civility Pledge. It is a foundation of who they are, what they do and how they do it. It states: “As a member or supporter of the Coffee Party USA, I pledge to conduct myself in a way that is civil, honest, and respectful toward people with whom I disagree. I value people from different cultures, […]
Coffee Party USA is looking for passionate people from all America’s diverse communities who want to work together across our differences to reclaim our government for the people. Ten years ago, Coffee Party was one of the few organizations working against the ways money corrupts our politics and working for non-partisan/trans-partisan citizen involvement. Coffee Party has changed over these ten years but our track record shows that we are still a significant player in our efforts to “reclaim our government […]
Vince Lamb (Dr! Lamb) has been involved with Coffee Party USA almost from the beginning. He has served non-stop on the Board of Directors for several years, seeking and vetting appropriate partners for our Coffee Party work; he has served as interim secretary and contributes daily to our popular Join the Coffee Party Movement Facebook page. He is a science professor and environmentalist and (in his spare time) Vince blogs at his Crazy Eddie’s Motie News blogspot. Vince wrote this […]
So why has the human race never really figured out how to live by this rule of life? Maybe because throughout history most people just flat don’t agree with it.
