FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
"I can't believe one man was able to completely derail this event that so many of us worked so hard to put together," said Bill Jenson, who is a volunteer for the event. "By the end, he had our people singing along with his pro-Bank of America song. I left in disgust."
Rice described himself as a Corporate-Person American of modest means, who supports the corporate agenda as a matter of principle. "Banks shouldn't have to pay taxes because they don't use public services," Rice said. "Little banks don't go to public schools, they go to strip malls and set up branches."
Police were instructed by Columbia Mall owners to keep all protesters off the property, but organizers of the event mentioned that they were more tolerant of the lone Bank of America supporter than they were of the protesters. Rice was able to walk right up the front of the bank with his pro-corporate sign, while protesters were threatened with arrest when they came within 1000 feet of the bank.
