Coffee Break Tool Kit

Download the following items to help you with your Coffee Break action:

 How to Plan and Publicize an Event

  1. Identify local citizens and/or groups interested in working with you to organize a Coffee Break event.
  2. Decide on an action. CLICK HERE for a list of suggested actions.
  3. Choose a location (State Capitol Building, a corporate store front, or a well-trafficked public space).  You may need to apply for a permit. Check with your local police department.
  4. Check out our Coffee Break Tool Kit
  5. Make a list of what needs to be done and what materials need to be prepared. 
  6. Assign tasks to your fellow volunteers and come up with a time line for completing them.
  7. Promote your event:
  • Use this tool to create an event on our website so others in your area can sign-up for it
  • Notify your personal Facebook, email, and phone contacts.
  • Send a press release to local media outlets.
  • Create an event page on Facebook
  • Use your Twitter account
  • Print fliers and post them in places where you know they will be seen.  See our Tool Kit, or:
  • Send notices to online community calendars.

Finally, don't forget to document and share your event. Arrange to have someone take digital photos and/or video footage.
